Team Selection Philosophy
While the primary goal of the program is to create opportunities for players to have a positive and memorable experience playing the game that they love, we also strive to field competitive teams at every level in the Dual Country League, help players develop and improve their skills to reach their potential as individuals, and build a program that consistently qualifies for the post-season tournament. Team selection seeks to balance all of these goals. Below is brief overview of each of the three teams. These are general rules of thumb and are subject to modification based on the number of athletes in the program.
Varsity: The Varsity team is composed not of the best 10-12 individual players, but rather the 10-12 players that make the best team and give the program the best chance to achieve its competitive goals.
JVA: The next 10-12 freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who were not selected for the Varsity team. The JVA team is a development team. It is our hope that players progress from the Junior Varsity A level to Varsity in future years. Playing time at the JVA level is based on competitiveness, effort, attitude, ability and commitment, and as a result, playing time is not guaranteed to be equal.
JVB: Our goal with the JVB team is to balance opportunity-to play with fielding a competitive, developmental team. The team will be made up of 10-12 freshmen or sophomore players with the goal of helping players develop at the level appropriate to their ability. Playing time at the JVB level is based on ability, effort, attitude, and commitment, and as a result, playing time is not guaranteed to be equal.

What to Expect at Tryouts
Tryouts are designed to create a process that allows players to demonstrate their abilities. The entire staff participates in player evaluation and provides input to team selection. Team placement decisions will be based on player performance in a variety of drills and games. See the "Strength & Conditioning" and "Skills & Drills" pages for specific training guidelines to prepare for pre-season. Additionally, see the "Off-season Opportunities" page for organized training opportunities throughout the year.
